چکیده
Playing games has always been a joint activity. New hardware developments such as multi-user touch-sensitive tabletop surfaces offer new possibilities to support games with information technology. This paper analyzes the properties of games that are relevant for choosing an appropriate hardware setup, e.g. the need for public or personal data for different players. These properties lead us to a categorization of games. Based on these results, possible hardware configurations for different game categories are discussed. Four sample games are presented by which the influence of the hardware setup on the game has been studied. The paper concludes with the lessons learned from our classification of games and their weaknesses and the next steps we are going to

متن کاملComparing Multi-Touch Tabletops and Multi-Mouse Single- Display Groupware Setups
In spite of all the attention paid to multi-touch tabletop displays, little is known about the collaborative tasks they are best suited for in comparison to alternatives such as multi-mouse SingleDisplay Groupware setups. In this paper, we share the results of a study we conducted comparing a multi-mouse Single-Display Groupware (SDG) setup (two mice, 15” vertical display) to a multi-touch tabl...

But how can game user experience be evaluated in real-world, co-l...
متن کاملHigh-Resolution Gaming 1 High-Resolution Gaming: Interfaces, Notifications, and the User Experience
Advances in technology and display hardware have allowed the resolution of monitors—and video games—to incrementally improve over the past three decades. However, little research has been done in preparation for the resolutions that will be available in the future if this trend continues. We developed a number of display prototypes to explore the different aspects of gaming on large, high-resol...
